Biography
Born in Madrid, Txuca Pereira is an artist photographer. She combines the creation of personal projects with commissioned portrait and scene works. A constant in her work is the search for beauty in fleeting moments, sharing emotions with the viewer. Her attraction for the uniqueness in every face and the magic of body language shapes a body of work flooded with sensations and emotions. She expresses lived experiences through a personal visual language written in light, acting as a guiding thread for the observer.
After studying Bachelor of Arts and then Illustration, she gained a BA in Audiovisual Communication from the UEM European University of Madrid in 2000. She has continued taking part in courses at the ICP International Center of Photography, SVA School of Visual Arts, The Exhibition Lab, Museum für Fotografie, EFTI Centro de Imagen. Among her instructors Amy Arbus, Elinor Carucci, Keren Moskotvich, Sasha Wolf and Michael Foley. Txuca began her career in education as a TA Teaching Assistant for Robert Meyer’s lighting courses and as a collaborator at the ICP library in 2011. Later, she worked on design of contents of her creative portrait workshops and continue teaching in Kleiner Salon in Berlin and Fundacion FIart in Madrid. Currently, she teaches the Unit Still Photographer course at ECAM Escuela de Cine.
Txuca moved to NYC in 2010. There she joined Mothership NYC artist collective and her glance became represented by Gaze Photography agency. She collaborates with artist in portrait and performing arts photoshoots as Sol Kjok, Richard Borge, Masimiliam Balduzzi or Jim Thomson. Back to Europe, she lived in Berlin until 2015. Nowdays Txuca is based in Madrid, where she continue her own style of photography.
