Biography

Born in Madrid, Txuca Pereira is a photographer working on commissioned works and on her personal projects. She is a creative image maker developing portrait, behind the scenes, performing arts projects and her artworks.

Txuca has developed her own style of photography and communicates with the viewer by experimenting with technique and art. Her portraits and performing arts photographs are based on the search for the uniqueness in every face and her attraction to the body language. Her interest in the creative process led her to become a great observer behind the scenes working as a unit photographer in film productions.

After studying Bachelor of Arts and then Illustration, she gained a BA in Audiovisual Communication from the UEM European University of Madrid in 2000. She has continued taking part in courses at the ICP International Center of Photography, SVA School of Visual Arts, The Exhibition Lab, EFTI. Among her instructors Amy Arbus, Elinor Carucci, Keren Moskotvich, Sasha Wolf and Michael Foley. Txuca started teaching at the ICP as a Teacher Assistant in different workshops in 2011. Later, she worked on design of contents of her creative workshops and continue teaching in Berlin and Madrid.

Txuca moved to NYC in 2010. There she joined The Mothership artist collective and her glance became represented by Gaze Photography agency. Back to Europe, she lived in Berlin until the end of 2014. Nowdays Txuca is based in Madrid, where she continue her own style of photography.
